Cha Wa
New Orleans brass band-meets-Mardi Gras Indian outfit Cha Wa radiates the energy of the city’s street culture. The band’s music feels like pure joy, a distillation of generations of New Orleans expression. But it also never fails to remind us how hard-won that joy was.
“Mardi Gras Indian songs are inherently songs about freedom,” the band’s drummer Joe Gelini says. “And that struggle is as relevant today as it’s ever been.” Popmatters describes the band as “a grand gumbo of singing, intoxicating rhythms, and deep funk grooves that are impossible to resist.”

Kam Franklin
Kam Franklin is a singer-songwriter, activist, writer, orator, model,visual artist, and actress from Houston, TX. She is best known for her work with the gulf coast soul band, The Suffers, but Kam began performing in public at the age of five. A three-time recipient of the Houston Press Music Award for Best Female Vocalist, Kam has performed on five continents and has performed with the Suffers backed by The Houston Symphony in addition to being featured solo. Kam is also known for her unique collaborations, some of which include: filling in for H.R. (of Bad Brains) during the 2016 Afropunk Superjam alongside members of Bad Brains, Fishbone, and Living Colour, performing in the 2016 March For Science band alongside Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Judith Hill, and Fred Wesley(longtime James Brown collaborator), and repeated appearances at Newport Folk Festival where she has participated in numerous tributes and collaborations.

Kind Hearted Strangers
Hailing from all corners of the country, Kind Hearted Strangers began in the foothills of Colorado – where an impromptu open mic performance by songwriter Marc Townes quickly evolved into something much bigger. With genre bending improvisations from lead guitarist Kevin Hinder and bassist/vocalist Ace Engfer, KHS has become a dynamic full band capable of bridging the gap between all out rock n’ roll and their harmony-driven acoustic roots. The addition of drummer Eggy Gorman has seen the band grow into a road-driven force, hungry for live music, delivering high-energy rock shows across the country.

Doom Flamingo
Doom Flamingo is a six-headed synthwave beast with a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde element to its songwriting. Top Gun guitar riffs, and Miami Beach poolside lounge-vibes, are all at once contrasted with darksynth sounds eerily reminiscent of old John Carpenter films. The cast of talented musicians in this project came together in their hometown of Charleston, SC. The project features bassist Ryan Stasik from prolific rock band Umphrey’s McGee. Dynamic vocalist Kanika Moore sets the project into hyperdrive.

The Sensational Barnes Brothers
The Sensational Barnes Brothers are a melting pot of the old and the new. As Pop Matters states, “The brothers run through a spectrum of moods and modes in their gospel soul, often bridging the gap between, say, the Soul Stirrers and Stax, all the while keeping a local flavor.” The brothers are able to dive deep into their roots, creating a sound that reflects the music of their history, all the while drawing in a modern-day audience.
