Tredway Gallery: “Bodies at Rest” by Paige Stewart

Paige Stewart’s show ‘Bodies at Rest’ looks at Isaac Newton’s First Law of Motion “A body at rest stays at rest unless a force acts upon it” these abstract ceramic sculptures capture how the laws of physics manifest in the body; especially as it relates to mental health and the experience of depression.

In this series the human form is depicted in various states of rest or lack of inertia, and how the state of depression seems to prolong itself into eternal moments of collapsing time and stagnation unless a force acts upon it.
