Sled Dog Tours

Cosmic Cruisers offers unforgettable wilderness sled dog adventures for all ages and abilities.

You can choose between an all day tour or our shorter tour, which is just minutes from Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

We specialize in introducing you to the basics of mushing and, when desired, teaching you to run a team of rambunctious, very experienced huskies on a pristine wilderness trail.

ALL DAY TOUR
We offer an all day tour which usually heads out in the morning from the Gunnison National Forest and returns around 3 – 4 in the afternoon; lunch is provided. The all day tour takes you into the heart of the Gunnison National Forest. You are pulled by approximately 8 – 12 Alaskan Huskies with indomitable spirit and unbelievable teamwork. These amazing athletes pull you to the elevation of 11,000 feet with ease. They love running and dislike stopping. The views are spectacular and there are plenty of opportunities for video and photography. The all day tour fully immerses you into the passion of the dogs and the wilderness. Time on the sled is approximately 2.5 hours.

SHORT TOUR
Our short tour is just minutes from Crested Butte Mountain Resort and is approximately a 40 – 60 minute sled dog ride. We offer 2 options with this tour. You can choose to ride in the sled and your guide will run the team while you relax and enjoy or we can give you complete instruction, equipment orientation, dog placement and command information and allow you to run your own team! You will run 4 – 5 dogs, standing on a fun sprint sled, your guide will be in front of you with another team, ready to help when needed. All ages can participate in both tours. Children are often excellent dog drivers. The dogs themselves are excellent and patient teachers.
