Great Decisions: Iran at the Crossroads Discussion

Mar 8, 2023
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

EVENT DETAILS
Join us on Wednesday, March 8 at 6 pm at the Gunnison Library or virtually for a foreign policy discussion about Iran at the Crossroads.

About the topic:

By the fall of 2022, Iran was in a state of turmoil due to widespread protests against government-enforced wearing of the hijab, a failing economy, an ineffective new president, and the looming succession of the country’s leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. Abroad, renewal of the Iran nuclear deal seemed doubtful and tensions remain high between Iran, Israel, and Arab states. Many Iranians have lost hope of a better future, and the country seems at a crossroads. How should the United States deal with it? (by Lawrence Potter. Full article PDF here)

. . .

This part is part of an eight-week discussion series called Great Decisions hosted by the Gunnison Library, in conjunction with the Foreign Policy Association. Great Decisions is the largest discussion program on world affairs in the United States.

Participants will read a short article each week to familiarize themselves with the topic. Then at the meeting, we will watch a short documentary video clip and engage in a moderated discussion.

The next discussions will focus on the following topics:

March 15: Climate Mitigation
