Great Decisions: Global Famine Discussion

Mar 1, 2023
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

EVENT DETAILS
Join us on Wednesday, March 1 at 6 pm at the Gunnison Library or virtually for a foreign policy discussion about Global Famine.

About the topic:

Fears of global food shortages have followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has disrupted grain shipments from the major grain producer. But what about countries and regions that were suffering before this impending shortage? How is famine defined, and how is it different from simple food shortages? What if any remedies are there? (by Daniel Maxwell. Full article PDF here)

. . .

This part is part of an eight-week discussion series called Great Decisions hosted by the Gunnison Library, in conjunction with the Foreign Policy Association. Great Decisions is the largest discussion program on world affairs in the United States.

Participants will read a short article each week to familiarize themselves with the topic. Then at the meeting, we will watch a short documentary video clip and engage in a moderated discussion.

The next discussions will focus on the following topics:

March 8: Iran at the Crossroads

March 15: Climate Mitigation
