When the lakes freeze over in the Gunnson Valley, the fishing doesn’t stop, it just gets better.

Ice fishing is fun and educationl respite from your time on the slopes and can reward you with a delicious fresh dinner to boot. Ice fishing can be a challenge and the prep and equipment are, in a word, “unique”.

Here are some Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley ice fishing guide services that find the spot, prep the hole, offer some shelter & instruction and leave the rewards to you.

Crested Butte Angler

The Gunnison/Crested Butte area often boasts some of coldest temperatures in the country, making a lot of safe ice to fish through.

Many of the local rivers, lakes, and reservoirs are frozen solid for months but the fishing does not stop.

We utilize heated shelters to keep us comfortable and protected when the weather is windy or cold, but we are usually outside enjoying the warm Colorado sun.

Our electronic fish finders help us stay on the trout, and power ice augers do the work and allow for easy access to the productive areas. Most of our ice fishing trips are about four hours of fishing and you can expect to catch lake trout (mackinaw), brown trout, rainbow trout, along with the occasional kokanee salmon and perch.

Ice fishing trips are perfect for families and groups looking to take a break from the slopes or anyone looking to try something new and fun.

For booking or just more questions contact us here: Jason@crestedbutteangler.com or 970-349-1568

Guided ice fishing trips are typically 4 hours and are available any day of the week.
